Yes, I bought the car new in October, 1994. I remember reading lots of posts about cracked/broken upper strut mounts on the early NG900's, so I've checked mine for signs of damage on a regular basis.
What really surprises me is that I'm still running on the original brake pads at 182+ thousand miles. The tire man said they are about 40% worn. Now I don't use my clutch disk for braking (i.e., downshifting to stops), so you can see that I'm pretty easy on my Saabs. Obviously I don’t do a lot of big city driving either.
When I bought my first set of tires from this store they sold me a lifetime wheel alignment. Of course, they figured this would keep me coming back to them for tire rotations, and they could make money from me on oil changes, tune-ups, etc. I do all of that sort of thing myself, so they haven't made a cent from me with this gimmick, which makes me suspect even more that the struts issue is just another ploy to pry some money out of me.
