Look in the owner's manual. Note that it suggests 10K changes or 5K changes (severe service) using the semi-synthetic oil. The idea of a 3K change is an old, out-dated American idea left over days of yore. The oilo change guys like to continue that fairy tale. More info available if you want to discuss it.
That all said, I think you meet the "severe service" recomendations for 5K changes. If you don't heat the engine up fully when you drive the car, the moisture in the oil does not burn off. In addtion, more of your driving is during the rich mixture time, leading to more oil contamination. The reason that they have a time limit on oil is not that it goes bad that fast, but that people who drive short trips dirty up their oil more than those who drive longer.
If I were you, and viewing the sludge issues these engines sometimes have, I'd change every 6 months and use full synthetic oil. You won't have any issues and the cost is reasonable.
