Until someone invents a startrek transporter, the coolant is going SOMEWHERE. Physics still rules the world. A slow leak can be really difficult to find. A headgasket leaking into the combustion chamber can be so small that you don't have any steam or antifreeze smell at the tailpipe.
Maybe you can convince your mechanic to pump it up again, and wait. Leave it pressurized for awhile to see if that shows you the leak.
You could try a cylinder leakdown test. There, you use compressed air in the cylinder, & listen for where it goes. It's also possible to have your antifreeze chemically analyzed for exhaust gases.
If you keep the coolant cap a little loose, you're just adding an additional leak. I don't think that'll help you.
I hate to say it, but you might be better off just checking & adding more often. Exhaust analysis to detect coolant, or coolant analysis to detect exhaust, might be more expensive & not worth it. It seems to me that the leak can only get worse, at which time it'll be easier to find.
