Hi all. Over the past week, I've put all new (Talliafero) bushings on my front end, replaced my LH tie-rod end (matching the RH which was replaced 18 months ago), replaced the front wheel bearings, and both ball joint boots.
After the LH tie-rod end replacement yesterday, the car tracks in a straight line very well (huge improvement over spent tr-end!), but the steering wheel is cocked to the left. I've read a bunch of great posts here on alignment, but want to know where to start on the adjuster screws connecting the tie rods to the tie-rod ends. Reason I ask is b/c on my car, the LH distance of exposed threads in the adjuster measures 2", while the RH only measures 1 3/4". Is it normal to have such a discrepancy between the two, or should I make them equal (and to WHAT starting measurement?), and begin the alignment there? I read 2.03" is the MAX, so my LH is pretty much already there, at 2". Do I back it off & make it equal to RH? What is the spec on where to begin with this distance? It seems to me, one should begin with it = on both sides, right?
