If you feel like dismantling the rear brake... Check the actual sensor. It's a magnetic sensor up against a toothed wheel somewhere on the hub. (Sorry, can't remember the gory details, but you should find it by following the wire.) You might have to clean off any crud or metal shavings that are sticking to the sensor.
While you're at it, look for problems with the exposed wire from the sensor. Pinched? Cut insulation exposing bare wire?
