AC help - compressor replaced and now doesn't get power

So last year my AC compressor clutch bearing gave it up coming home from a long trip. I managed to get it close enough to home so towing didn't kill me. I just got around to replacing parts today. Replaced the compressor, the dryer, the evap valve and as many orings as I could get to.
Made sure the compressor had 150ml of oil. Pulled a vacuum and verified that I was holding pressure. I put in an initial charge of refrigerant expecting to trip the pressure sensor and finish charging. Hmm. It doesn't like that. On other vehicles I have worked on 25lbs or so would let the compressor start. I get no power to the compressor clutch wire. I add a little more but still no joy.
I have pulled the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer. I have also reset the temp sensor (AUTO + OFF) which I think does the same thing. Any other thoughts? Is there a way to test the pressure switch?
The system was working perfectly for years before the bearing went out. I can usually handle the obvious stuff but when the computer systems get in the way I am at a loss without an interface or schematic.
thanks..dave
