You do need to match the pattern. There are plenty of wheels in that pattern.
Why don't you like Tirerack? I've been dealing with them since the pre-Internet days and never been disappointed. They've gone out of their way to be fair to me in problem situations.
Personally, I don't recommend 17" wheels. If you are in the "warm only" area of the country where they don't get many potholes or frost heaves, maybe they are OK. You should really buy higher quality wheels if you go for 17" to get something stronger.
As for selling the old wheels - I'd wager they are bent. All those original wheels tend to be. Check on the INSIDE edge for obvious dents and/or rig a gauge to check for out of true or round contitions. I'd be very surprised if they weren't beat. As for value, check Ebaby.
