I am just finishing a clutch replacment on my 1999 convertible. The job is not overly difficult, but it is quite time consuming. It is almost a necessity to have an angine support beam to do the job properly. You will also need a large breaker bar to remove the subframe bolts and two floor jacks to get the transmission out. A sett of wobbles and ratcheting wrenches also helded me get into a few tight spots. Finally, make sure you get a clutch alignment tool. It is under $10 and is invaluable. In addition to the other recommendations...while you have the trans out, I would recommend replacement of the rear motor mount (since it is very easy to get to while the vehicle is apart) and the bushings on the front anti-roll bar (cheap to change and also easy while the subframe is out). Check the boots on the CV joints and the boots on the ball joints. Also check the ball joints for excess play. If the ball joint boots are ripped, I would recommend replacement of the joint as opposed to replacement of the boot. Since the joint can deteriote once the boot is ripped it is easier to spend the extra $$ now and change the whole joint, then to just change the boot and have a future problem (IMO).
You will probably want to enlist the help of a friend to do the drop of the transmission and will definitly want to enlist a person to help get it back up and aligned.
Good luck
Joe
