Passenger Side Knocking/Popping

The last couple weeks my 1999 Saab 9-3 has had some issues with a slight clunking noise. It's hard to tell if it's in the back passenger side or the front (who knows, it might be both). This morning was our coldest morning in the Upper North East this fall. As I was going down my country bumpy road this morning that "clunk" turned into a straight up loud knocking/popping noise. I've noticed it also happens when I turn my wheel quite a bit - it does't seem to happen really if I only make a small turn (think like, a 90 degree or greater turn). If i'm going straight on a smooth road, slow or fast, no noise at all.
My thoughts is that this has obvously got to be suspension related as a.) it only happens when I hit bumps or b.) when I turn as the car shifts it's weight.
What does this sound like to you guys? Tie rod end, Tie rod, ball joint??
Also - if it knocks hard enough I can almost feel it reverberate throught he pedals (slightly) but it's definitely coming from the passenger side.
Second opinions?
