Disabling the turbo unit.

I know the car would be a "dog" without the turbo - but I can not justify the cost of a new turbo unit. I mostly cruise on the highway commuting so I am considering if the situation gets worse to plug the oil oil lines and disabling the entire turbo unit. This seems easy enough by just removing the connection to the exhaust ( 3 rusted bolts) and plugging it up. My concern is on what effect this would have on the electronics?
Has anyone done this? Also where can I get a diagram or photo of the Turbo showing the oil lines and coolant lines?
