My baby has developed an oil leak, and I have a feeling the head gasket is the culprit. I've had a couple OG 900's, this is my first 9-3 though, I would like some feedback on my line of thought.
I purchased the car about 2 months ago (70k miles on the car), drove it for a couple of weeks, and all was fine. One fine day, I really buried my foot in it. Shortly after I was rewarded by low coolant warnings. Found the solution to the problem on this board, head re-torque. Two of the outside bolts (drivers side) were completely loose. After I re-torqued the head, the coolant leak was solved. However at roughly the same time, not positive exactly when, the oil leak started. Oil is dripping on the Cat, seems to be coming more from the drivers side of the motor. There is fresh oil on the starter solenoid, unfortunately there isn't much else I can see without removing the intake.
"Always look for the last thing that was messed with", which definitely was the head gasket in this case. Is there an oil galley located on the rear/drivers side of the block which might be pumping oil out the head gasket?
Anyone have any suggestions on how to identify where this leak might originate? Some magical means to see through the intake would be ideal :)
Also, service manuals seem to be a bit difficult to come by. I am completely confident in my ability to replace the head gasket if necessary, but a service manual would certainly help. I found this on e-Bay (item 110452726678) and am curious if this is what I have seen referred to as the WIS manual on this board.
Thanks,
Drake
