Coolant would not be clear and odorless, nor engine oil, PS fluid, or brake fluid. The windshield washer fluid tank is on the driver side, so is the battery. So there is no other fluid it could be. Maybe check you fluid levels to be sure.
I would guess, like you suggested, it is salt water from road slush.
You could taste the "sparkles" to see if they are salty, then you would know for sure...just be prepared and put the poison control center on speed dial.
