I'm having a new DVD/CD/Stereo put in my '03 9-3 SE CONV. Sport. I've searched the BB & read about 50 posts regarding this including great sites such as http://www.kolumbus.fi/richard.bevan/saab/saab93/index.html - yet still have some questions I hope some of the BB/SAAB experts can help with. I do have past experience installing car stereo/amp/speaker combos.
The new Deck has 80W x 4 Peak, 22Watts RMS, new dash, door & rear speakers will handle this power. It also has 2 RCA Pre-amp outputs, so I will continue using the existing Saab 40W x2 (RMS ??) AMP that drives the door Mid-subs (I'll likely replace these door speakers).
1. Instead of the hassle of removing the door panels and risk breaking the clips, etc. -wouldn't it be easier to just pry off the grills (breaking the 3-4 pins that hold it to the panel, 1 is broken now) then just Neatly glue the grills back on??
New speakers are 6.5" w/ < 2" top-mount depth, 180W Peak, 35W max RMS, 92dB, 60-20,000 Hz. I know the AMP only sends low freq to these.
2. I've read that the rear 5.25" speakers are 2ohm NOT 4ohm like the rest... is there something in the wiring harness that converts to 2ohm or is that per the stock Saab deck? So, when I replace them with 4ohm speakers -compatible with the new deck, would the harness convert back to 2ohm somehow? (not desired)
Also, can anyone share info on removal of the CONV. rear/side panels to access the rear speakers, or would prying/breaking off the grills then glueing them back on be much easier??
Anyone have experience installing the PAC SWI-Xv1 Steering wheel control adapter unit? I may get this too.
All help & any links to diagrams would be greatly appreciated.
