I used a pickle fork, and a mini sledge hammer. A couple of whacks, and it was separated. I kept a couple of turns on the ball joint nut to keep it from flying down too fast when the press fit was free.
My advice would be to be a new sway bar end link also when you do this. Those small fasteners like to rust there on the bottom of the car, and then snap off.
