shifter knob replacement

(2000 viggen)- shifter knob is loose (twists easily CW/CCW) and the leather is looking worn and shabby, so it's time for a new one. Just read over the write-up on how to remove the shifter knob using three plastic inserts to slide into the gap and release the reverse collar.
once i have the new piece in hand, i'm sorta missing how it will be locked back into place once it is placed onto the top of the shifter. Do i need to use epoxy or something? If anyone has done this procedure, any tips would be greatly appreciated. I found 2 replacement parts, one from Gen.SAAB, one from eEuro (for about $20 more). Sounds like the GS part is not as good quality as the EEuro (??). Thanks!
