Handbrake adjustment -- Am I doing it right? Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Fri, 28 May 2010 14:00:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Okay, so I have everything set up and here's what I did:
I turned the rotor to see the shoes were touching or not. Since they were not, I tightened the wheel by one click. I checked again, but they were still not touching. So, I tightened one click again. I did this until at some point, after a click, it was just barely touching. SO...I LOOSENED it one click, obviously with the expectation that now it will not be touching. But, the shoes were now rubbing! I slacked another click, and they were still rubbing ever so slightly leading me to believe this isn't all very accurate now, is it?
How exactly do you guys do it? The adjuster was working beautifully before, with no issues (car has 39k miles). All I did was upgrade the rotors.
Many thanks, Bender.
