Hello Everyone,
I need everyones' opinion to help to diagnose the problem. SAAB 900SE v6 1995 128k
About 1 week ago "Check Engine" came on and was on and off since then. I blamed it on O2 sensor and kept driving. In a day I noticed that car lost some power and also steering became noisy. I added steering fluid, since it was low (as I checked) and it solved the steering problem, but I still felt loss of power. Yesterday, I noticed that serpentine belt is shredded. I assumed that power steering pump was the problem, but my mechanic checked the power steering and AC pulleys and said they were fine. He guessed that belt shredded because tensioner pulley is misaligned. Well, I already bought both tensioner pulley assembly and new serpentine belt and hope to replace them soon.
Comment: Last year I already replaced idler pulley, tensioner pulley, serpentine belt and water pump. My mechanic replaced idler pulley, serpentine belt and water pump and I did tensioner pulley myself, since it is so easy to reach. Maybe I did not install pulley properly?!
One more comment: My mechanic was not able to pull up the "check engine" code. His computer ($7500) does not want to communicate to my SAAB. I am planning to take the car to the dealer to check the error code.
Any suggestions what might be the problem?
P.S. Sorry for typos and grammatical errors.
