NO GREASE AT ALL on the actual friction surfaces of the rotor or pad. You knew that, right?
The grease goes where the steel pad backing-plate rides in the caliper bracket. For that matter, fit the pads in there first, & check whether you need to file them a little. I've often had to file off the paint or a little more just so they don't get themselves wedged tightly stuck in there.
Then watch the caliper springs. See the picture for the right way. It's possible to get the ends of the spring on the wrong side of those little tabs, then you won't have any brakes on the first pump of the pedal.
