All though I like the look of the Audi and the nearly bullet proof quattro, they do have some interesting engineers over there that make it pretty hard to work on, in example the wheels have lug bolts, not nuts and studs, but the rotors are not locked to hub making wheel changes very interesting as the two spin out of alignment. Also they seem to use alot of plastic parts at the rear of the engine, for coolant valves etc and with the small engine compartment it can be very difficult to get to. Plus, the 1.8T is pretty weak down low and the turbo is tiny, and the V6 option eats gas. BMWs are nice, but expensive, and i've heard their front ends can get messy to make DIY repairs too.
I've owned my saab for 3 plus years and have basically torn it apart and put it back together and it still takes my driving abuse. They are solid cars, it would be my vote.
