Thanks all,
Yes, it did make some bad noises -and I agree that a Saab specialist would be better to work with -but on a Sat. night, in middle of nowhere, CA I had AAA tow to the place that is open Sundays... they'll gladly show me the damaged plugs when I go back to the shop. New Diagnosis is that it did not "jump time". This morning they put a mini-camera inside the spark plug holes showing bad chunk out of piston #2 & hole in cylinder wall... likely head/valve damage too.
So, it's assumed that the crank bearing/s failed due to the common oil feed problem w/ these engines... 0-clearance so piston got loose -extended up to hit plugs.
-That all is VERY lame considering only 65K on engine w/ good oil change record.
-This is my 4th Conv. SAAB -now want a 2007-8 Aero Conv. V6T - anyone know if those engines have similar/other major flaws?
The task now is to find a good full B205R Longblock in/CA to swap in. But of course don't want this common problem again w/ "new" used engine...
I've found car-part.com & scada1.com with some around $1500. I'm expecting another $1500 in labor to install per owner of the Meineke -of 30 yrs...
Car is in great shape inside & out, no dents/damage/smoke/pets Dk Silver/Charcoal, loaded w/ everything + Sweedish Dynamics/GenuineSaab cone Air intake(like K&N), steering rack brace and thicker sport rear anti-roll bar + in dash touchscreen CD/DVD/Ipad player w/ bluetooth for handsfree phone via speakers + I installed backup detection system (a B*%#ch of a job) -great new 235/45/17 Falken tires w/ just 2000 miles. So, it's worth keeping -unless any of you want to buy it for $6,000 ASAP.
Thanks for the input & tips. - Happier SAABing to all of you.
-Erik
