Throttle issue - 2.3 NA

Had the throttle stick tonight for the first time on my 94 2.3 NA. It happened when disengaging the cruise. Upon examination, I found the throttle cable end had backed out of the bracket on the TB. The cable housing has a square end that goes through the bracket. As far as I can tell it's held in by the tension on the cable. However, when the cruise is engaged, the tension is not present on the throttle cable. I was able to pull on the cruise cable and the throttle cable housing could easily come out of the metal bracket. Is there supposed to be some clip to hold this in? It works fine now but I'm afraid to use the cruise until I get at the root cause.
