Diagnosing vacuum leak vs brake booster Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Sun, 5 Feb 2012 10:55:59 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a vacuum leak some where on my '02 9-3 se and I can't tell if it is from a failing/failed brake booster or a bad line somewhere.
I defiantly have some vacuum lines to replace and I have to do the last PCV update, one symptom I can easily hear is this: When I step lightly-moderatly on the brake, I can hear a vacuum leak. Where I depress the brake pedal fully, the hiss goes away. Also, stopping performance/safety is compromised at times.
I just would like to know if the booster is causing the issue or the vacuum to the booster, or whatever else you all might think. (I think it's the booster due to the change of vacuum leak sound with brake pedal pressure, but more minds are sharper than mine).
Thanks again,
Adam
