I would research the bypass solution first and do that just to confirm it is the gear selector switch before shelling out the money buying one.
You can always search the 9-5 board as well since it is similar postings there about bypassing the switch. Actually, I think it is more common with the no crank when hot syndrome on the 9-5 compared to the 9-3.
It is just a matter of finding the right two wires down by the battery area and bridge the two to bypass the switch starter relay disengagement.
Black/green and black/white in the 10 pin connector I think should be the two wires to connect.
