Well, you see, most of our answers are based on that the shop threw out a suggestion that it "might" be a torque converter.
That to most of us means they don't really know much and therefore everything they have done up until now might not be worth much.
That's why the suggestion to have another good shop take a second look at it.
You have to drop the complete transmission to replace the torque converter and if that doesn't fix the problem either, you are out some $2500.00 or so for nothing.
A brand new torque converter is $1643.00 retail. Maybe you can find cheaper ones but the labor is the same to drop the transmission whatever part you go with.
