Bilstein + Eibach + polyurethane = good! Posted by Eric S [Email] (#818) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Eric S) on Mon, 9 Jul 2012 08:31:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Last weekend I finished my installation of Eibach springs, Bilstein HD struts/shocks, Genuine Saab polyurethane bushings up front, GS poly inner tie rod bushings, new outer tie rods and all new OEM replacement items that go with a strut & spring change, like seats, strut bearings, etc. This is on a 2002 SE 5-dr. The one issue I encountered was the need to replace the ABS sensor brackets since you cant really remove the abs sensor from the bracket without breaking the screw off in the bracket. Aside from that, the job wasn't too bad. I spent one day removing the front assembly, one day installing the new front assembly, and 2 hrs on the third day to do the whole rear end.
Now, I have not driven a 9-3 or 900 with a koni setup or any other aftermarket suspension other than this and stock (2 non-turbo 900s and 2 9-3s) and my car is now firm, but not uncomfortable. There's virtually zero body roll and it is still as comfortable as you'd expect in an Evo or 911 turbo. It's quite firm, but not harsh. I'm likely limited now by my tires more than anything else. I'm sure this isn't for everybody, but if you're interested in upgrading your suspension, I just wanted to toss in my $0.02 since it seems like there is some negative sentiment about the bilsteins that initially concerned be before making the decision to try it.
Cheers,
Eric
