Some more notes:
You could upgrade to the Viggen clutch disc and pressure plate. It can handle more torque and maybe a little more abuse.
A factory Saab slave cylinder is only about $200, so for sure have that replaced while the transmission is out.
The Pressure Plate needs to be replaced as the springs can get a little weak and the disc of course is going to be worn.
Some other items to check/replace when the trans is out:
Rear main seal (not super easy, but do it if it is leaking!)
Axle seals (super easy)
Motor and trans mounts (all easy, front mount maybe a slight hassle)
Suspension components (much of it has to come out to get to the trans)
I lowered the engine as far as I dared when pulling my transmission out this summer and took advantage of the extra clearance to replace the belt and pulleys. Maybe your mechanic will enjoy the extra clearance too and give you a good deal on replacing those items? Who knows.
What do you think of Atomic?
