If she does not intend on playing CDs in her stock player then you can easily hack that unit. You will need to soldier a 1/8 jack cable directly onto CD connectors on the board. You will also need to unsolder CD L & R channels at the ribbon on the board. It's all well marked so you can't miss it. This entire operation is 100% reversible so if you wish to sell the car, or go back to playing CDs you can.
One caveat, you will need to make yourself a 80min silent CD that will fool the player to reading/playing so that you can then feed music from your portable player.
I have this in my 02 9-3 and it works perfectly. CD quality sound with stock look.
