Hi Noel,
Sorry to hear about the idler pulley, I found a spare in my garage the other day I did not know I had, it was new and in the Saab box, probably bought it for my 1994 900 SE and forgot about it, the 00 9-3 used the same one.
I think I mentioned the belt/pulley as high on the priority maintenance list I gave you. I was in the habit of replacing these together every 60k or so. With 4 cars around, I just got a little sidetracked. Or, your NH winter just lasted too long.
Never heard an issue with that booster hose o ring thing on any of the Saabs I have had, you were thinking hooter valve, but I never had one of those fail on me either. Oh well I learned something here.
You think this car is quick? You should have driven my old red 94 900 SE coupe, that thing was way faster than a Viggen, I played with the motor on that car, forged hooter valve, changed intake, ECU S3, MBC, Saab sport exhaust, Viggen IC. But the rest of the car was
crap compared to the 00 9-3, especially the suspension. They fixed a lot of things in later models. I decided one hot rod was enough, so the 9-3 engine was untouched, just the few suspension bits you seem to enjoy as well as I did.
The 9-5 Aero has been eating my wallet lately. AC hose leak, water pump, control valve coolant leak, tires. Now the factory carbon fiber dash panel is falling apart. Same with the old Ford pickup which developed a nasty oil leak among other things. Good thing I got wife
the 2010 S80 to drive.
Hope the car does well for you. I miss driving it.
Cheers.
