02 Viggen Fuel pressure ? Long crank cold start Posted by Viggen Aero [Email] (#977) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Viggen Aero) on Thu, 18 Apr 2013 12:06:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
02 Viggen 75K. Diagnosing long crank time for cold starts. Starts OK when in the 50's and above. Ambient temp 40's and below-cranks for 30+ sec-then starts and runs fine. No CEL. It seems to be temp related-not related to how long car sits between starts. No problem during warm weather.
Replaced bad CPS & bad Temp (NTC) sensor, plugs, fuel, and air filter 2 yrs ago.
Fuel pressure: This where I think my problem is. Drove with fuel pressure gauge attached for several days to diagnose. Pressure is 45PSI at idle. Drops to 40 when key is turned off. Most times it bleeds off to zero after several hours. Immediately goes to 40 PSI as soon as key is turned on.
Occasionally the pressure stays at 40 PSI overnight.
I imagine the pressure should not bleed off to zero-correct? I will check/ swap out the FP regulator. I also could have a stuck/ bad fuel line check valve. But- if the pressure goes right to normal, as soon as the key is tuned on, does that rule out the check valve & regulator?
Using known good parts from my 01 Viggen- I swapped out the DIC, EVAP purge valve, and MAF- no change.
Spark: tested with inline tester and had spark while cranking.
I will also test the injectors for proper flow and also leakage.
What else?
thank you
