Took off the wheel and caliper and brake pads to find that the scraping seems to be associated with the dust shield. Oddly, bending it toward the rotor eliminated the scraping. Test drove fine.
The next issue to investigate is why these pads don't feel that great to me. They seem just okay.
But what I had on there before (previous owner), was amazing. Great initial bite and stop on a dime confidence. They just ATE rotors, though.
The only markings on the old pads that I can read have E4 on the backing plate and 158 stamped into the three-pronged metal doo-hickey that goes into the caliper piston.
