900NG rear brake Disc/drum removal

I have removed my calipers, and pads, and removed the small machine screws which hold the Disc/drums to the hubs. Although I have done this and the disc/drums seem to be loose they won't separate from the hubs. Does the hand brake adjuster need to be slackened right off?
