If the car wasn't run on synthetic before, it might have cleaned out some goo that was sealing a bad seal and now it's leaking. That's known to happen.
M1 0W-40 is on the thin side of 40 weight. You could try Shell Rotella T5 5W-40 and see if it helps at all. It's on the thicker side of 40 weight. It might slow it down. Once the goo is gone, it's gone, but a heavier weight might help a little.
If it's leaking from the head gasket, as opposed to the timing cover (clean and check), you might be able to do a head retorque to solve the problem.
