Factory speaker wire colors...conflicting advice. Help! Posted by ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ryan) on Sat, 14 Dec 2013 08:20:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Right off the bat I'll tell you I've exhausted the BB with searches, and have not found matching claims about what colors are what.
Car is a 2002 Viggen and I just replaced the dash and rear speakers. My Haynes manual says this is what it's supposed to be, and I'm sticking with this for now, until I find otherwise:
LF: + is Brown, - Brown/Grey
RF: + is Brown/Black, - Brown/Red
LR: + Brown/White, - Brown
RR: + Black/Green, - Black/White
Fortunately in the rear, I hadn't already thrown away the factory plugs that I clipped off the wires, and confirmed that the Brown/white and the black/green are the same polarity, and same for the Brown and Black/white.
The problem is that in searching the BB, there are many people claiming that the wires are for different polarities (for at least one of each speaker, front and rear). I have seen Richard Bevin's old audio write-ups... same problem. Does anybody know for SURE what they are supposed to be?? I have tried reversing the polarities on all the speakers, and they sound the same either way (as far as I can tell), but I hate not knowing if they are wired correctly, it will just drive me nuts!
Thanks in advance!
