Front brake issue after new rotors and pads Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Wed, 6 Aug 2014 18:47:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just replaced the front rotors and pads on my '02 9-3. Aside from the indexing screw stripping on both sides and both rotors being frozen to the hubs, the was easy and went as expected. This wasn't the first time I've done this job.
Anyway, after buttoning things up I took her for a test ride and all was well. The next day, I had been driving around town a bit and heard a sound that can only be described as the sound that you get when a rock that has been stuck in the tire tread pops out and hits the fender liner. I don't know if this sound was related, but after that the drivers side brake grabbed a couple times. Then I noticed as I went around a corner turning to the right I could hear the brake dragging. I thought made my wheel was loose or the retaining clip had popped out on the caliper but neither was the case..
The pistons on the calipers did seem pretty damn rusty (at least on the exposed part, but otherwise everything seemed fine. Braking performance is still fine. No shaking, etc.
Any ideas?
