Ray-
I own a 95 900 SE Turbo Convertible. I have had it for a little under a year, with no MAJOR problems. The only things that have gone wrong have been little things like door locks/latches. I'm fairly sure there was a recall on our year top, and should have been updated at the dealer. I'm not sure exactly what it entailed, but I know mine was taken care of. As a former BMW owner, I agree with you on the looks of the 900 vs. BMW. It is a unique and clean design, while the BMW's kind of fall into that cookie-cutter shape of the late 90's. I would think both would be about equal performance wise, with the only advantage going to the 328 for a plus on handling. That's the price you pay for front-wheel drive convenience I guess. I still actually own an '85 Euro model M5, which I love, but you can't go wrong with the Saab. It is one of the few true 4 season convertibles around. Anyway, hope this helped and enjoy your 900.
P.S. To be totally fair, I did have to replace the clutch when I bought it at only 67,000 miles.
Happy Saabing,
Rahul S.
