Leaking voltage from inadequate grounding? I know on the 9000 that the grounding of the rear lights was considered by some (Townsend, IIRC) to be inadequate, and it was recommended that a new, thicker ground wire be run from each of those panels. I did that on my 9K. You might try to see if you can reproduce the problem while holding on an extra ground wire between the rear light panels and a good grounding point. Can probably do the test with some wire and alligator clips.
