Thanks Rob, I appreciate the advice to have the cylinders measured first rather than going straight to boring. Also, I did not even consider doing anything to the crank as the top end of the engine looks sludge free. I talked with a local NAPA machine shop today. Their work would be about $620.00 plus tax for both the block and head (includes $35.00 per cylinder for boring). They bore/hone in a oil bath and boil after to clean out shavings and other crud. I figure the parts needed, which includes new pistons/rings, seals, timing/balance chain and a few other things comes to around $1,300.00. Not counting my labor that's a complete repower for under 2K. I might spend that again on a manifold back 3 inch stainless exhaust!
