Leave the valve body with all the brake lines firmly attached to the firewall. IIRC there are 6 torx head screws which hold the controller to the valve body portion.
Some people continue to drive the car with the controller removed but the braking system appeared half open to me. Even wrapping with plastic didn't seem very safe, so I parked the car for the week or so it took to receive my unit back following rebuld.
