5th Bow Down Switch - Best Option for Diag/Replace? Posted by Tulsaab [Email] (#31) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Tulsaab) on Fri, 21 Aug 2015 06:47:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yesterday my convertible top stopped immediately after raising the 5th bow, and gave me a "SOFT TOP FAILURE" message on the SID. After plugging in my Tech2, I got a B2015 - #5 BOW Down Switch, Function Incorrect.
After checking out a few other things (fluid levels, microswitches), it does appear as if there is indeed an error with the switch inside the cylinder (or perhaps the wiring, but I haven't been able to validate just yet.)
So, collective Saab wisdom - a few questions:
a.) what's the best next steps to continue diagnosing to ensure that I indeed have to replace the part?
b.) has anyone figured out a way to replace the switch itself, or do the rebuilders replace the switch? I'd prefer not to spend $700 on a new cylinder.
Thanks!
