Daughter shifting woes. Need advice!

My daughter's 2000 9-3 SE HOT has gotten to be really hard to shift.
She brought it home from VT last week and we took it for a drive. It goes into all the gears and the clutch engages OK, but it is hard to shift--notchy--and will grind going into third. 5th seems to be a bit further to the right than it used to be. Not sure, but I think this car is the one we put new engine and tranny mounts on sometime last winter. But don't remember and am not home to check.
I am thinking it's the linkage. This is not a huge surprise given the car has 235K on it. A new linkage is $330 from eEuro. I'm traveling and she is getting ready to order parts, but I need some advice.
Let's assume the clutch is OK. I believe it is. Is hard, notchy, stiff shifting in all gears likely to be the linkage? A search here also mentions some bushings below the shifter. Would they also cause this problem?
I know a lot about 9Ks but not so much about the 9-3s. The kids each have one but they don't need much, so haven't wrenched much on them. Need advice before ordering stuff.
TIA, guys!
