My car recently developed a rattle at left front wheel. The "chain" tire shop where tires are from diagnosed it as a damaged strut and suggested replacing all four plus 2? control arms (and bushings?). They said my tires - all 4 were cupping on account of it.

My indie mechanic said I just needed front struts. Both said it is safe to drive until repaired but the rattle during right turns bothers me so I'm not going far.

Several years ago a dealer shop told me the rear struts and shocks should be good for the life of the car. So I'm a bit confused.

I can't help but suspect the tire store of inflating what is needed but I don't know. Does anybody have experience about this problem? Thanks.
