A generic OBD-II code reader may detect the fault, a Tech-II definitely will display the code. If I am correct, you can get the ABS module rebuilt fairly inexpensively. I had to do this exact repair on my 2000 9-5 years ago. Too many years ago to remember the exact fault code.
