Sure glad my Viggen is narrow Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 7 Sep 2016 12:59:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Driving to work this morning, taking a fly-over entrance ramp form one expressway onto another. the exit of the fly-over is to a zombie construction zone. Lots of barrels and barricades but no evidence of any planned work, let alone current work.
I get to the end of the entrance ramp and see that some one has clipped one of the orange barrels. it now sits smack in the middle of the ramp with barrels on both sides placed a couple feet off the road edge.
What to do? Not much time to decide at 50mph and the curvature of the lane coupled with the huge number of barrels placed meant that there was no opportunity to see this earlier. Do I try to stop, swing left, swing right? The safest option appeared to be to shoot for the opening between the displaced barrel and the right shoulder barrels.
Success, the Viggen sailed through without incident! No vehicles coming behind me but a full size SUV of pick-up truck would never have fit. No opportunity to park the Viggen on the expressway shoulder to go back to move the displaced barrel either.
