It seems like low mileage to lose your head gasket. My first guess would be that the intermittent oil leak and the sound are unrelated. Most likely source of leak is valve cover gasket, but you'll have to wash down the engine and look for the leak after it's clean. As for the noise, I would suspect something that's belt driven on the cylinder #1 end of the engine. My Viggen needed a new alternator at about 110K miles, as the alternator bearing was dying. Could also be a pulley.
