My '02 Viggen (139K miles) has had the clutch pedal fall to the floor and stay there. The failure was gradual, over the course of an afternoon, with progressively worse shifting. The indy who looked at it just thinks the clutch line needs bleeding. He says he was able to pump it up with the clutch pedal, although he says the clutch still doesn't fully disengage when pushing the pedal down. His #2 diagnosis is the clutch master, as he says there is no brake fluid puddle under the transmission, so it can't be the slave.
I've had two clutch slaves go out on me on previous Saabs, at about the same mileage this one has. I think I remember that one of those had the puddle and the other didn't. I've also had a clutch master go out on me, and that had a different feel. With the slave, the clutch pedal feels very limp, with little resistance, whereas with the master cylinder, it feels as firm as usual but just doesn't disengage the clutch properly.
So I'm reluctant to drive the car out of town after he bleeds the system. I've usually done my own work but my schedule is too crazy lately. I can drive it 140 miles to a Saab dealership. What say you?
