No, not rivets. I can feel the threads of the screw on the back side and the nylon/plastic flanges of the bushing that it screws into and holds it tight. The bushing must go into the mounting holes on the sensor unit and then the tri-wing screw screws into it and bites into the bushing...kind of like those plastic sheetrock screw bushings you pound into the sheetrock and then let the screw bite into that.
