Get a set of dedicated wheels (steel is cheaper if you happen to slide into a curb) with the snow tires. I'd recommend going with the 185/65's over the 205/50's. For snow you want a tall, narrow tire that will bite through the snow to the higher traction road surface below.
On the other hand, if it rarely snows where you live, but you just want to be prepared in case you happen to be driving when it does, then go with the 205/50's. They would still give you better traction then your 205/50 summer tires, but not as much as the 185/65's would.
I personally have the 185/65 Arctic Alpins and have been happy with them.
