ABS problems going downhill

I sometimes travel down a very steep mountain road that lasts for 2 miles The speed limit here - and one you want to abide by - is 30mph. Braking is needed to keep your speed down. When braking with either slight or constant pressure on DRY pavement the ABS system on my 900SE engages. It has never before done this on any other stretch of road with dry pavement.
Could it be the steep angle of descent? Is there some kind of sensor in the car affected by this?
Thanks for any input.
