Engine Oil Update

I read the MY 2001 owners manual--for the 9-3 185hp/205hp/230 hp line, and in it SAAB specs semi-synthetic and/or full synthetic engine oils having the weight of 5W-30 or 5W-40 according to API SH /SJ.
This is the first such spec I ever remember seeing from Saab on the subject of mandating semi or full synthetic engine oils.
They mention the increasing popularity of 0W-oils and say to use the popular known brand names. Spec'd as A3/ B3 .
FOR EXACT CONTEXT of the remarks see the 2001 owners manual---
