Well, it turns out that the dealer wanted $640.00 to install my Viggen Rescue Kit. Since they've never done one, they estimated the installation at this price. This seemed to be rediculous to me, so I just had them do the 1000 mile warranty service until I had some time to work this out. If anyone knows of a knowledgable Saab mechanic in the Bay Area who can deal with this work, I would appreciate the referral. Though they did say the work *could* take less time, my experience has been that most servicers charge right up to the estimate every time.
In response to your question Ray, the Flight Academy is a track session that Saab offers to anyone who purchases a new Viggen. They invite you to Road Atlanta, and you work with an instructor to learn how to better handle your new car! You should receive an invite in the mail from Saab... If not, make sure to ask your dealer for this.
Regarding B&B, aside from this 600.00 Abbott fiasco, my two visits to them (one for coding my new alarm remote, and then the 1000 mile service) were very very good experiences. They were courteous, fast, and efficient. For a dealership, they do OK. They were also quite well prepared with a loaner car for me while my car was being serviced. We'll see how long the stellar service lasts over the long haul, but initial impressions were OK.
Good luck,
-Dan
